MISSION MINISTRY POLICY
Developed February, 2012
The functions of the mission ministry are:
1. To create a culture of support for missions and missionaries among University Church of Christ members. This includes facilitating relationships and a sense of engagement between supported missions/missionaries and Church members by sharing missions-related information, prayer requests, and presentations of missionaries with the Church.
2. To respond to requests for missions support. This includes making recommendations to the elders regarding the allocation of Church missions funds. Priority for funding is given to missions/missionaries with a connection to Pepperdine University. This .means missions which have been started by and/or are staffed by former or current Pepperdine students or faculty members.
3. To provide mental, physical, spiritual, and financial support to supported missions/missionaries through prayer, phone/email communication, and financial contributions.
The University Church of Christ does not view itself as a sponsoring body, rather we provide partial support to missionaries. Missionaries desiring long- or short-term support from the Church should formally make a request by sending information about their missions goals, methodology, purpose, budget, sponsoring Church (if applicable), and the ways in which they would like to be supported by the University Church to: Missions Committee, University Church of Christ, 24255 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA 90263.
To facilitate the functions of the Mission Ministry, we request that supported missionaries provide periodic prayer requests and updates about their mission work. This should include at least an annual report of evangelistic work, results, and budget.
